Viewing rule bases

Selecting a rule base’s View Active option lets you see all the rules, states, functions, and vari­ables in that rule base. Unless you intend to make changes, it is a good idea to use the View Active option instead of Edit to prevent accidental modification of the rule base and help you track changes to the rule base. The following procedure for viewing a rule base uses the opportunity rule base as the example, but you can use the same procedure to view any rule base.

To view a rule base:

1	Click the Sales Configuration button on the navigation pane.

2	Double-click View Active under opportunity rules.

3	To view a state, right-click the state and select View State.

4	To view a function, right-click the function and select View Function.

5	To view a rule, right-click the rule and select View Rule.

6	Click the Cancel button after viewing.

In addition to viewing the rule base without editing it when you select View Active, you also have the option of restoring the archived rule base. If, after viewing the rule base, you decide you want to revert to the previously archived version of the rule base (that is, the last one that had been activated prior to the current version), you can restore the archived version. After restoring the archived rule base, you must activate it in order for the restored version to become the new current version.

To restore the archived version of the rule base:

1	Click the Restore button. You will be asked to confirm that you want to restore the archived rule base.

2	Click the OK button to confirm the restoration of the archived rule base. Instead of dis­playing Browse Contact Rules, the content pane now displays the rules editor, which is activated.

3	Click the Activate button to activate the restored version of the rules base. If you close this window without activating the rules base, the restored version is abandoned and the cur­rent version of the rules base remains active.
