I’ve been working for a few months on some new tutorial videos, unfortunately I’m battling some video encoding issues and have decided to post my standard tutorial video. If I do ever get the video encoding issues worked out we may have some more engaging videos to watch in the future. For now, here is a tutorial video on getting started with Connect Web Services for SOAP. In this video we walk through the necessary steps to create a new project in Visual Studio, generate client bindings from the RightNow Connect WSDL and write a simple data integration application to create a new contact. This video should help anyone who is just beginning with Connect Web Services for SOAP. This video is similar (much shorter) to the presentation I gave at this years RightNow Developer Conference. You can find all the RightNow Developer Conference presentations here: RightNow 2010 Developer Conference Presentations.
Enjoy!
Please note this video will show sample code and screenshots of the RightNow product which fall under ourĀ Sample Code Legal Disclaimer.

Looks so exciting.
Thanks for a great demo – very helpful information to get us started.
Waiting for our upgrade as we speak and can’t wait to get our hands dirty with all of the capabilities.
Hi William, thanks for you notes! Please keep us in the loop as you get upgraded and begin working with Connect Web Services for SOAP. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need some help as you start working with the API. Thanks.
[...] 2010 to consume the RightNow WSDL, previously you had to use the svcutil.exe as outlined in my Web Services .NET Getting Started [...]
Chris,
Great video and very informative. I am more comfortable coding in Vb.net but i will code in C# if I have to. Is there anything hindering creating in VB or do you know of issues and recommend C# instead?
Regards,
Jeff
Hi Jeff, you should be able to work with VB .NET to consume the WSDL. I personally have not done this as I am not familiar with the VB language. The one reason I’d recommend C# over VB is that we have more C# experts who will be able to assist you than VB.
