Back in May I had the unique opportunity to be a presenter and organizer of the first ever RightNow Professional Developer Conference (PDC). The event consisted of two session tracks focusing on RightNow Connect and Customer Portal, over 15 unique sessions hosted by members from the RightNow development organization, a fabulous reception at Ale Works restaurant in Bozeman, MT and general session presentations highlighting some amazing samples built by RightNow Technical Product Managers. Oh and let’s not forget some amazing acting by members of our Professional Services team dressed up as ski bums!
The conference consisted of approximately 50 attendees. These attendees included RightNow customers, RightNow partners, and even some RightNow employees. The session attendance was pretty evenly split with ½ of attendees following the RightNow Connect path and ½ of the attendees following the Customer Portal path. Each track started with an introduction/overview presentation and then progressively moved on to mid-level and finally advanced development topics. In addition to sessions hosted by RightNow, we also had three sessions hosted by partner companies. The partner sessions highlighted case studies in call center development, call center architecture and a call center CTI product demonstration.
I was very worried about the material we were presenting as we had attendees who had never worked with RightNow development and attendees who had production integrations built with RightNow. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised at the feedback we gained from attendees. Those who were new to RightNow development were able to come up to speed quickly and transition easily into the mid-level and advanced sessions. Those who had developed with the RightNow APIs before the conference were left with new ideas and best practices for development with RightNow. I think my favorite quote was, “After attending this conference I have learned so much I need to go redesign phase II of our integration project”.
I look forward to the next PDC and hope to see a large number of new faces!

Damn, awesome website. I actually came across this on Yahoo, and I am happy I did. I will definately be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment.
Thank You
