RightNow® Technologies(NASDAQ: RNOW), today announced it has successfully migrated TomTom's on premise customer relationship management (CRM) operation to its London-based data centre, where it will host the system. This change marks the first time TomTom has adopted the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model for any of its mission critical systems and is part of the business's preparation for future growth.
To date, TomTom has witnessed phenomenal customer growth as satellite navigation solutions become increasingly popular. Hand-in-hand with this rapid customer acquisition has been a rise in customer enquiries. Currently, more than 500 TomTom service agents use RightNow, in nine different languages.
Projecting future customer acquisition and exponential enquiry growth, the decision by TomTom to migrate to RightNow's on demand system is in part to future-proof its business by taking full advantage of RightNow's multi-tenant hosting architecture and the economies of scale it offers. The aim is to negate any unnecessary infrastructure costs and gain tighter total cost of ownership control. Any internal resources previously allocated to running the on-premise implementation will be reassigned to other essential projects.
"Changing our RightNow deployment from on premise to hosted will enable us to take better advantage of the company's expertise and allows us to focus on our core business," said Roy van Keulen, Vice President of Customer Support at TomTom. "We like to ensure that our customers have a superb customer experience whilst we are still growing so the ability to empower all our agents around the globe with consistent knowledge is important."
Almost all of RightNow's new customers choose to have their deployments delivered as a service. This service model can provide an array of benefits not associated with traditional, on premise deployments, such as; lower total cost of ownership, better business insights, stronger client / vendor relations as well as quicker time to benefit for those opting to host from the outset.
